Therapy Groups, Support Groups and Classes

Introducing Therapy Groups, Support Groups and Classes.  These groups will primarily be live virtual groups.  Groups are typically 1 hour and 1x a week.  The group or class schedule will depend on the schedule of interested individuals and having enough interested individuals for each group. All groups and classes are for adults unless specified. If you are interested in participating in one of our groups please complete the Therapy Groups and Classes Forms

THERAPY GROUPS, SUPPORT GROUPS AND CLASS DESCRIPTIONS

Anger Management Class
The goal of this class is to decrease your anger and increase your anger management skills.  This class will address some of the myths about anger, teach you how to identify your anger triggers, show you how to use relaxation techniques, review some causes of anger, show you ways to improve your communication skills, and provide you with conflict resolution skills.  By the end of this class, you should have developed an individualized anger management plan to assist you with controlling your anger.  This Anger Management Class has 12 classes and will be once a week.  

Grief and Loss Support Group
This Grief and Loss Support Group is for adults. This 12-week support group will follow the “Understanding Your Grief Model” created by Dr. Alan D. Wolfelt. Ph. D. This support group will provide you with a strong foundation of basic grief and mourning principles including the “Six Needs of Mourning.” During this group you will address misconceptions about grief, explore the uniqueness of your grief and your feelings of loss, learn strategies to assist you with processing your grief, and practice self-care. You will also be provided with options for reconciliation as you heal and integrate your loss. In addition, you will embark on a journey to discover the Ten Essential Touchstones for finding hope and healing your heart.

Social Anxiety Therapy Group
This Social Anxiety Group is for adults. This group will discuss social anxiety among adults.  We will review the connection between social anxiety, anxiety and stress. You will learn how to management your anxiety and social anxiety by being taught different skills. You will be shown how to identify and withdraw from highly anxious or stressful situations.  You will also learn how to address and handle your social anxiety in different situations by being shown different options that you can use such as coping skills and ways to address your thoughts. Throughout the group different concepts will be demonstrated and practiced at your own comfort level. Individuals must reside in California or Maryland to participate in this therapy group.

Grief and Loss Therapy Group
This Grief and Loss Group is for adults.  This group will work with you on processing the death and/or loss of a family member, loved one, friend, colleague, classmate, and/or associate.  This will be a closed group to allow individuals to feel more comfortable sharing within the group.  The goal of this group is to give you a safe space to process, share, and talk about your grief and loss.  You will also explore your feelings, learn coping skills, build an individualized toolkit, and learn how to find peace and/or meaning within your life. Individuals must reside in California or Maryland to participate in this therapy group.
