Experiencing the death of a loved one can leave you feeling empty and questioning the meaning of life.  Having recurring painful memories or nightmares about past experiences can cause you to feel scared and hopeless.  We all like to be in control of our lives and ourselves.  Not having control of ourselves or our feelings may bring about angry and unnecessary conflicts with others into our lives.  There is hope and these can all be treated with therapy.  As a licensed clinical professional therapist with many years of experience, I know how to help you with these problems.

“Hi, I’m Carmen Spears a licensed therapist.  I offer in-person therapy in Los Angeles, California. I chose to specialize in grief and trauma therapy because I wanted to support individuals through difficult losses and emotional distress. My ability to be fully present without absorbing your emotional distress in my personal life allows me to offer compassionate care. I also provide virtual therapy across California and Maryland.”

My Specialties

Grief and Loss

  • As a Grief and Loss Therapist in Los Angeles, I can assist you with processing your grief and loss so that you can continuing living in this world without them. This is done by teaching you how to work through the 5 stages of grief and how to find meaning in their death.  This will bring about a renewed sense of purpose and meaning in your life. Whether you’re struggling with the loss of a spouse, widow grief, death of a child or infant, or grief due to terminal illness, I’m here to help.

Anger Management

  • I can show you how to control your anger so that you can decrease conflicts with others. A couple ways I do this are by teaching you calming techniques and effective communication skills.  These allow you to decrease your feelings of anger, lower your stress, and to improve your interactions with others. If you’re looking for something more intense, then check out my Anger Management Program. This program includes recorded video lessons, handouts, and 12 hours of content.

Trauma

  • If you’re struggling with family trauma, childhood trauma, or generational trauma, contact me to begin your healing process. As a trauma therapist in Los Angeles, California, I can teach you how to heal from your trauma so that you no longer have painful memories or nightmares. One way I do this is by teaching you relaxation skills and how to remove negative feelings associated with your past trauma. Doing this results in you getting a good night’s rest and being present in life as you create new joyful memories.

Groups and Classes

  • I offer various therapy groups, support groups, and classes. Please check out the Groups page to view the calendar and schedule for these. If you’re interested in attending any of these, please fill out my Therapy Groups and Classes Form.

Teletherapy

  • Teletherapy can feel awkward initially. This is why I work on making sure all my clients get the same quality of therapy services as in-person therapy services.  You can rest assured knowing that teletherapy is beneficial and that you will get the standard of care through teletherapy. As a therapist in Los Angeles, I can provide online therapy across California.
